What’s the difference between the GEN24 and the GEN24 Plus?

The GEN24 offers an integrated basic backup power function (via the “PV Point” socket) when the sun is shining.

The GEN24 Plus adds a battery storage connection and enables Full Backup (i.e., powering the entire home — including large loads such as heat pumps) when paired with a battery and grid-disconnection switching device.

What backup power options are available with the GEN24 Plus?

The PV Point backup: a socket supplying up to ~3 kW from your PV system when the sun is shining.
Full Backup: when a battery and appropriate switching device are connected, the system can supply the whole home (including large loads) even during a grid outage.
Note: Full Backup is not available for the Symo GEN24 3.0-5.0 Plus variant.

Can the GEN24 be upgraded to a GEN24 Plus later?

Yes — the existing GEN24 inverter can be retrofitted via the “UP.storage” software upgrade to become a GEN24 Plus hybrid inverter (so long as the variant supports it).
However — the Full Backup option via this upgrade is not available for the Symo GEN24 3.0-5.0 Plus.
